Investing in Young Children Delivers Valuable Dividends
This article from The Hill discusses the benefits of high-quality preschool programs and the ways in which the reauthorization of the No Child Left Behind Act presents an ideal opportunity for Congress to emphasize the importance of these programs.

Study Shows Great Gains with Pre-K 
A study from the National Institute for Early Education Research on pre-k children in New Mexico finds that children who attended pre-k showed gains 54 percent greater in vocabulary, 40 percent greater in math, and 118 percent greater in the understanding of print concepts than those who did not attend.

High-Quality Preschool Will Be Difficult for Lower-Middle Income Families to Afford
A new analysis by the National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER) shows that families with household incomes in the $30,000 to $50,000 range will have difficulty paying for high-quality preschool, as eligibility guidelines for publicly-funded programs in many states are too low for families in this range.

DEC Annual International Conference on Young Children with Special Needs & Their Families 
From October 25-28 in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, the Division for Early Childhood (DEC) will host its 23rd Annual International Conference, focusing on "crossing new borders" in the field of early childhood.

13th Annual NESA Conference 
The 13th Annual National Even Start Association (NESA) Conference, from October 28-30 in San Diego, California, will focus this year on the theme of "Make a Difference: Shape the Future."

International Dyslexia Association Conference
The International Dyslexia Association will host its 58th Annual Conference in Dallas, Texas, from October 31 through November 3.

NAEYC Annual Conference & Expo
The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) will gather more than 20,000 early childhood professionals for its annual conference and expo from November 7-10 in Chicago, Illinois, to discuss the everyday issues of working with young children and families.
